Rayim Yachad

Yachad provides individuals with developmental disabilities an opportunity to socialize and to be included within the Jewish Community.

image Rayim Yachad, for participants ages 26 and above, provides inclusive social and recreational programs for adults B'Yachad, together, with typically developing peers from universities and synagogue communities. Rayim Yachad is comprised of Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, Monsey and New Jersey Chapters. Yachad members enjoy local events within their chapters as well as weekend Shabbatons. Rayim participants are given independence and choice during events to promote self-advocacy and independence. Rayim Yachad members also participate in the Rayim TRIPS program as well as the Rayim College Learning Program.

Rayim Advisors

The Rayim staff are trained to work with adults with developmental disabilities. The advisors are responsible for the Yachad members overall care and safety throughout the weekend including distribution of medication. Each advisor is about the unique needs of working with adults with disabilities, how to promote independence and self-advocacy. The staff learn how to interact with the Rayim members and to ensure that they are treated like adults and are taking part in age-appropriate activities. Rayim members are encouraged to make their own choices. Each Rayim member is given the individual attention and care that is needed for them by the highly qualified staff. Most of the Rayim Advisors are college students who volunteer to be Yachad Advisors.
