Yachad and The Friendship Club
Our Yachad group was the original group that became established three years ago. This group is for our more involved members. We have two recreational programs per month; we always start off the year with a big Kick-Off daylong program. The ratio of Yachad member to mainstreamer is usually two to one in this inclusive program.
The Friendship Club just began this year. This group is for our higher functioning 9-11 yrs. old members. This group’s goal is to make friends, learn how to improve their social skills and have fun. This is often the essential challenge for these kids as they become pre-teen/teenagers. Two mainstreamers run this group’s activities. This group is Yachad member empowered.
Each year we have also been joining NCSY for their Shabbaton (weekend retreat) in town.
We are currently in the midst of undergoing a huge fundraising campaign so that we can offer these programs that our community is in need of:
- Bringing Jewish Recreational Education into the residential services arena
- Assist with Special Needs Bar/Bat Mitzvahs
- A fund available when money is needed for our special needs families
