Taglit - Birthright Israel

Vision Statement

imageThe vision and concept of the educational tour is grounded in National Jewish Council for Disabilities' fundamental belief that the Jewish community is obligated to include all people with disabilities in any opportunities that are offered to its members. This trip is one of those opportunities that we feel that Jews with special needs, must be included in.

The program is designed as an introductory level program where Israel history and culture is presented at a basic level. One of our central foci is that which concerns experiential education. Our participants do not learn through frontal presentations or by reading written texts. Our vision is one where the participant is able to experience Israel in a way where they learn from what they touch, feel, hear, and eat. This is the most effective approach for our participants who tend to be concrete thinkers, and we believe it is these types of experiences which will have the deepest impact on the participant.

imageAdditionally, much thought and deliberation has been given to staff training due to the multiple types of diversity that can be found with our participants. Our staff is trained to respond to the needs of a group with a wide array of cognitive and physical challenges. We also train our staff to meet the needs of the wide array of participants with different religious beliefs and practices. This trip will enable a unique group of young people to have a personally-tailored experience of one of the unique treasures of the Jewish people - the contemporary State of Israel

The next trip will be in June.
The group will be departing from NY. Participants are responsible for getting themselves to and from NY.
