Toronto Yachad
Yachad Torah HighWhat is it?
A free weekly integrated Jewish studies class is provided to Yachad members (teens and young adults with developmental disabilities). In the class the students (Yachad members) learn to read and understand Hebrew. We study Torah, Siddur and prayer. We also learn about the Jewish holidays and special days as we celebrate them throughout the year.
Who attends?
Like all of Yachad this class is integrated. Students from Ulpana Orot High School join us each week to learn one on one with the Yachad students. Many lasting friendships have developed over the years of this class as the students have the opportunity to interact with one another on a regular basis.
Our Yachad students have both public school and day school backgrounds. With one to one tutoring we gear each Yachad student’s learning to his/her level. Both the Yachad students and their peers at Ulpana have benefited from this class.
